Abstract
The limitations of conventional coagulation tests in the evaluation of hypercoagulable states are well known. Indeed, the measurements are interrupted when 5% of the total amount of thrombin is formed. However, the thrombin generation test provides an overall measure of the hemostatic potential. The implementation of the Calibrated Automated Thrombography gave it a new life in the biological arsenal. Measuring the kinetics of thrombin generation allows early diagnosis of hypercoagulable states and better management of thrombotic risk and anticoagulants prescription.
