Abstract
Automating coagulation should lead to improved quality of analyses and productivity in a hemostasis laboratory. There are numerous criteria for selecting a coagulation analyzer. The biologist must consider several factors, including the price of the equipment and consumables, laboratory operational characteristics, and especially the features of the coagulation analyzer (robustness, maintenance requirements, flexibility and ease of use, quality of after-sales service, etc.). The technical performance criteria and operation of the analyzer must be monitored by the biologist. Calibration, repeatability, and reproducibility of the analyzer must be verified. Preventive maintenance of coagulation analyzers is essential. Cleaning the devices and replacing worn parts promptly are the main preventive measures.
