Abstract

Since 1990, a wide range of chromogenic culture media has been developed. By the inclusion of chromogenic enzyme substrates targeting microbial enzymes, such media are able to detect and identify microorga-nisms in polymicrobial cultures with high specificity and reducing time. The introduction of these media has led to facilitate and to perform microbiology diagnostic in routine.
