Abstract
In recent years, significant progress has been made in the biochemistry of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), enabling the interpretation of pathological variations in certain constituents and providing essential diagnostic and prognostic insights in neurological pathology. Proteins are the most intriguing molecules to study in this regard. Electrophoretic analysis of CSF proteins has helped clarify and classify various modifications in protein profiles, revealing the relative importance of transudation and secretion processes in neurological conditions, often associated with qualitative or quantitative changes in protein levels.
